A Futsal Skill Challenge Case Study
Every brand wants an activation people remember. Fewer think about what happens after the moment is over. Most experiential campaigns are built for the room: a great photo, a fun few minutes, a crowd around the booth. But once the event ends, so does the connection — the audience walks away, and the brand is left hoping the memory sticks.
What if the physical-digital experience in futsal activation didn’t end when the participant walked away, but became something they could carry with them — a piece of content, an identity, a personal asset tied directly to the brand?
The answer was an experience where physical performance and digital technology worked as a single system — not a game with a digital add-on, but one continuous journey from action to personalized output.
The Challenge
How do you turn a conventional sports activation into something participants don’t just play, but genuinely feel — like stepping onto the pitch as a professional futsal player?
CODX needed an experience that could capture real physical performance, translate it into a meaningful result, and give participants something personal to walk away with — not a printed photo or a branded giveaway, but something built from their own performance.
The Approach
Rather than something the digital layer simply observed from the outside, CODX built an interactive training system where physical movement became part of the digital experience itself.
Using motion-based body tracking, participants’ movements were captured and translated into the experience in real time. Their performance was guided and scored live as they played, while AI-powered face capture added a layer of personalization — tying the result directly to the individual, not a generic template. The journey ended with a personalized, FUT-style player card: a piece of content that functioned as both a digital identity and a physical, tangible keepsake.
The Activation Flow
- Engage — The participant steps into the tracked play area and faces a live skill challenge, styled to feel like a professional training drill rather than a casual game.
- Capture — Motion sensors record technique, speed, and accuracy in real time, while face capture builds the personalized identity layer.
- Score — Performance is evaluated live against challenge benchmarks, giving the participant immediate, tangible feedback on how they did.
- Generate — The results compile instantly into a personalized player card — combining the participant’s face, stats, and performance score into a single piece of content.
- Carry — The participant leaves with both a shareable digital asset and a physical memento, extending the activation beyond the booth itself.
The Result
The activation closed the loop between physical participation, digital interpretation, and personalized output. Instead of walking away with just a memory, participants left with a personalized artifact of their own performance — extending the experience beyond the activation itself:
Physical movement → Digital interpretation → Personalized outcome
Why This Case Matters
Interactive, personalized experiences tend to outperform passive ones on both engagement and sharing — people are far more likely to share something that’s theirs than something they simply watched.
The real story here isn’t the technology — it’s what the experience proves: when physical participation and digital systems are designed as one, the audience stops being a spectator and becomes part of the experience. A physical action becomes data. Data becomes a personalized identity. And the moment doesn’t end when the game does — it becomes something people carry with them.
What Brands and Participants Take Away
| Short term | Long term | |
| Brand | Higher engagement and dwell time at the booth, organic social sharing of personalized player cards, a standout moment in a crowded activation space | Owned digital assets and first-party performance data, a reusable format that can be adapted across future activations and markets |
| Participant | A memorable, game-like moment with genuine physical performance and a tangible reward | A personal digital keepsake they can revisit, share, and continue to associate with the brand long after the event |
The Bigger Idea: Physical × Digital
Brands have gotten good at creating moments people want to step into — booths, games, installations that capture attention in the room. But when people walk away, one question remains: what stays with them?
Physical × Digital is the answer CODX, as part of Midas Hands Creative Network, is built to deliver. By designing physical and digital as one continuous experience, a moment doesn’t have to disappear when the booth closes. An action becomes a result. An interaction becomes something personal. A physical experience continues long after someone has left the space.
The future of brand experience isn’t about choosing between physical or digital — it’s about making sure every moment has somewhere to go next. The booth is no longer the end of the experience. It’s where the connection begins.
For brands and agencies looking to build activations that are extraordinary.
